Walk the trail at your own pace and only leave transportation, navigation and logistics to us. We offer a variety of the most popular one-day self-guided walking tours from Sofia to the best hiking trails within 1,30hrs drive from the capital city (in Rila and Vitosha mountains). You can either take one of the walks only or assemble a 3- or even 4-day program for complete hiking experience. Our independent walking treks are graded in relation with their difficulty level to make your choice easier and to match your personal abilities.
All tours below include: pick up/drop off at your hotel in Sofia, transportation to the starting point of the hike and back to Sofia with English-speaking driver, detailed route notes in English, map of the mountains where you walk.



VITOSHA MOUNTAINS, CHERNI VRAH PEAK (2290m/7625ft.; MODERATE)
A panoramic walking route takes you along the ridge of Mount Vitosha, including climbing its highest peak Cherni Vrah (The Black Peak). Along the way, you cross the alpine meadows of the Torfeno Branishte (The Peat) Nature Reserve, dip into old spruce groves and follow a path to the stone rivers of the Zlatni Mostove (The Golden Bridges) nature phenomenon.

RILA MOUNTAINS, THE SEVEN RILA LAKES (MODERATE)
Transfer takes you first to Panichishte resort. From there you go by chairlift to the foot of the Seven Rila Lakes Cirque, housing the famous blue pearls: Babreka (The Kidney), Salzata (The Tear), Okoto (The Eye), Trilistnika (The Trefoil), Bliznaka (The Twin), Ribnoto (The Fish) and Dolnoto (The Lower). You will be able to complete a full trek around all lakes, or you can skip the two highest ones and only walk among the rest five lakes.

RILA MOUNTAINS, THE SEVEN RILA LAKES (DIFFICULT)
In the morning you will be transferred to Panichishte resort, where instead of taking the chair lift (as in the MODERATE version above) you will hike up through the woods to the alpine parts of the mountain and the Cirque of the Seven Rila Lakes. You will then start revelaing the lakes one by one, starting with the Lower Lake. Located at between 2100 and 2500 metres (6900 to 8200ft) above sea level, these famous glacier lakes will charm you with their magnificent scenery which you can survey from the edge of the highest one.

RILA MOUNTAINS, MUSALA PEAK (2925m/9740ft.; DIFFICULT)
Transfers takes you to Borovets Resort, where you board the cable to Yastrebets Peak, which marks the beginning of the walking route to the highest peaks in Bulgaria and on the Balkans. The hiking is not particularly arduous, yet is particularly panoramic, with the rocky face of Musala visible the whole time while you transit a number of Cirques, glacier lakes and mountain shelters. The view from the peak to surrounding uplands and peaks is head-turning.

RILA MOUNTAINS, MALYOVITSA PEAK (2729m/9088ft.; DIFFICULT)
Firstly we transfer to Malyovitsa resort, which is a starting point for a few classical treks in Rila Mountains. Today’s route takes you to the beautiful Malyovitsa Valley and thence high over the alpine summits to Malyovitsa Peak, which offers incredible views over the nearby crests and valleys of the Rila.
