Autumn is a season, very often associated with probably the best hiking time in the south-European countries. This is indeed the case with some of the Bulgarian walking trails below the tree line in the Rhodopes, Rila and Vitosha for example. But the hiking season on the highest summits and ridges (i.e. in Pirin and Rila) unofficially closes around mid-September, when some of the lifts shut down too. This is a pity, because autumn may offer very good possibilities for hiking, providing long periods of stable and sunny weather. And many people prefer exactly this time of year, when the popular tourist trails are quiet, when the spiders' webs in the grass get frozen early in the morning, when trees are getting ready for winter and the mountain slopes change different nuances of red & yellow colors every day.

Depending on the time you would allow for hiking in Bulgaria in late September and October, we are able to offer a variety of possibilities for guided and self-guided walking itineraries of different difficulty.

- for hikers, looking for a calm holiday of medium difficulty we can offer our best-selling tour in the Rhodopes, which runs by the end of October; you can also book a shorter version of it, including an overnight stay in Plovdiv at the end of the program;
please contact us for more details ->>
- for hikers, which are really fit, we can offer a more difficult program, covering the best of our self-guided treks in Rila and Pirin mountains (excl. Musala Peak, which is normally accessible by a cabin lift only working until mid-September); BUT you can rely on not at all less interesting circuits to The Scary Lake, Mount Malyovitsa and The Seven Rila Lakes in Rila Mountains, to Mount Vihren, Bynderishki Lakes Cirque and Todorina Porta in Pirin Mountains, the popular ridge traverse of Vitosha Mountains (from Cherni Vrah Peak to The Golden Bridges area) etc.; while traveling among the trailheads you can also embed a visit to Rila Monastery (UNESCO) in your itinerary;
please contact us for more details ->>

- all of the above options can also be done guided; just let us know the tour difficulty you are looking for and the duration of your stay, and we will get back with the best possible suggestion; note that we don't have other scheduled group tours running in autumn, which you can join, and all provided arrangements will be private for you only;
